1st Multi-stakeholder Conference
The 1st multi-stakeholder conference, was organized in Tirana on 25 November 2011 with the support and collaboration of the Albanian Ministry of Environment, Forests and Water Administration, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Global Water Partnership -Mediterranean (GWP-Med), the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
It brought together approximately 100 participants to discuss:
- Management issues as well as possible response actions at transboundary level towards the sustainable management of the Drin Basin and its sub-basins; a presentation about the main water resources related management issues, as these came out through the National Consultation Meetings and a review of the existing published sc9ientific information, provided the basis for this discussion.
- Next steps towards coordinated action/enhanced cooperation among the Riparians.
During the conference, the participants witnessed one of the most important moments of the Drin CORDA process: the ceremony for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the management of the Drin Basin by the responsible Ministers of the Riparians.
